Suffolk is a county with a direct link to the Saxon Patron Saint of England, St Edmund.

St Edmund who was killed after defeat by the Danes was King of East Anglia, he is buried at Bury StEdmunds,

There is a campaign to restore Edmund as Patron Saint of England and a flag was produced in his honour.  The flag is a Cross of St George (which is odd considering he is the only rival for the position) with a shield in the centre.

It does show it's Royal connection with two crowns atop the main design, a link to StEdmund?
