Yorkshire, once the largest county of England has lost several of it's component parts to new counties such as Humberside and Cumbria. it has also been divided into 3 administrative areas, North South and West.

That doesnt alter the fact that the county still exists in the hearts and minds of the people.

The Yorkshire rose famous from the wars of the roses, the civil war between the houses of Lancaster and York unsurprisingly forms the accepted county flag.

The rose rests on one point, apparently an importnat difference between they and their rival neighbours.
